What is the Future Map Program?
Future Map is a workplace financial wellbeing program providing practical life planning and financial literacy skills for employees as an enabler to achieving personal and professional goals.
What topics are covered?
How is it delivered?
The Future Map employee programs can be held over 3 x 2 hour sessions, as a 1 ½ day workshop or integrated into workplace Lunch n’ Learn or established benefit, reward, induction, wellness and graduate programs.
A strong emphasis is on learning, sharing and practical application with time for group discussion and personal planning between short dynamic presentations. Delivered in small to medium working groups, the series of short fun workshops create a time and a space for individuals to apply foundational life and financial management concepts to their personal situation.
Who should attend?
Whether individuals are starting their career, young future leaders, in senior leadership or highly skilled technicians, the program’s interactive and personalised nature makes it appropriate for teams of any age and financial stage who are keen to progress and shape their personal and financial future. Diverse groups are encouraged.
What are the outcomes for the individual?
1) increase clarity on their own future plan and direction,
2) increase their confidence and ability to make wise, thorough financial decisions, and
3) leave with a tangible next step action plan, access to ongoing support resources and a new commitment to themselves, their team and the organisation.
Some participants spend the sessions fine tuning their already well planned life, others are setting goals and looking closely at their personal finances for the first time. Everybody leaves with personal and financial improvements they can make to enhance their life and improve their future picture.
What materials are included?
Materials included depend on the length and depth of the program being offered. All participants create a personalised Life & Money Map and participants are supported by online resources available between the physical sessions.
What are the benefits to the employer?
Offering financial education as an employee engagement program focusses on the individual and shows employees their company cares, increasing retention and advocacy among teams. Financially literate employees who understand the principles around planning and who are clear on their personal goals make better leaders in their workplace and broader community and have higher levels of productivity.
1) improve retention of your key talent,
2) attract the best people to your organisation, and
3) improve your Corporate Social Responsibility position in improving the general health and wellbeing of the communities you and your teams live in.
Choosing the right program for you
Many corporate analysts suggest turnover can cost your organisation between one and two times an employee’s salary in lost productivity, advertising, recruiting and retraining costs.
On top of participants feeling valued by the employer and strengthening team relationships, increased retention also comes from retaining those who may otherwise try to solve their financial problems by changing jobs for higher money.
The Future Map program is appropriate to be offered as a benefit to all employees or can be offered to select groups. By hand picking participants for your program, you could target your most valuable team members, those you know are stressed or distracted by money or provide it as a program to build resilience among groups you are actively fostering such as women in leadership, employees on indigenous pathway programs or as part of your induction or graduate offering.
